Jax
Mixed breed/rescue from Aruba
3.5 years old
“I reached out to Meaghan for help with Jax for his ongoing leash reactivity with other dogs, and his sudden fearfulness in certain spaces. Meaghan gave us a variety of tools, and options of ways to address our concerns with Jax- and helped us realize he’s not ‘aggressive’, he just needed some guidance around how to behave! She taught us strategies for proper introductions with dogs, ways to effectively utilize play as a management tool, and overall increased our confidence in walking Jax. It was also helpful that she met us in re-life situations/places where Jax might experience reactivity. She was very accessible for follow up questions, tips around nutrition/enrichment tools/you name it! We also always appreciate the help of her loyal canine helper, Parker!”

Bowie
Black & Tan Coonhound Mix
1 year
Meeting Meaghan was such a blessing! Our new puppy, Bowie, was overly aggressive with play and we needed help badly. I happened to walk past a small local park one day and saw Meaghan in a training/play session with her dog. I was so impressed that I asked her how she managed to train her dog so well, not knowing this was her business and passion. We started working with Meaghan immediately, learning techniques on how to redirect Bowie’s aggressive behaviors as well as basic obedience. Meaghan’s instructions, along with her thorough follow up emails, were extremely helpful - I still refer to them today. Fast forward many months, Bowie is now working with Meaghan on mastering recall and walking nicely aside our baby’s stroller. We also have been engaging with her on e-collar training, with and without us present. As recently new parents, finding the time to work religiously with Bowie on this new tool has been difficult, so knowing that Bowie is in excellent hands with Meaghan during sessions we are not present gives us peace of mind. In fact, Meaghan is one of Bowie’s favorite people since he was a pup - he is always so happy to see her! All in, we have been thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Meaghan. She has helped us guide Bowie to become the best version of himself!

Kahlua
Pitbull Mix/Rescue
5.5 Year
“I brought Kahlua to see Meaghan in hopes that she could help with Kahlua’s leash reactivity and impulse control. Meaghan provided me with many tools to help support Kahlua, including introducing us to windows of opportunity for play, the importance of knowing which markers to use when, and overall management techniques for reactivity. Meaghan was willing to work with the tools that I was comfortable using with Kahlua, while still offering insight on other options that may be a good fit. Meaghan’s emphasis on positive reinforcement techniques, along with her knowledge and passion for canine training is something that is hard to come by. I am so appreciative of her, and have already seen some great progress, which in turn has helped in creating a happier, healthier dog.”

Milo
Australian Shepherd
7 months
“In February 2022, I re-homed a three-month-old Australian Shepherd named Milo. He wasn’t crate or potty trained, he struggled with walking on-leash, and he hadn’t been taught basic commands. As an inexperienced dog owner, I wasn’t sure where to begin — and Meaghan’s lessons provided the structure and direction I needed. He was crate trained within a week. In just three months, Meaghan has helped me to address almost all of my concerns with Milo, and she has also helped me to become a more confident, deliberate, and effective dog owner. Milo is now well on his way to becoming a great companion. And, under Meaghan’s guidance, I’m developing the skills I’ll need to help him thrive for years to come. Meaghan is knowledgeable, passionate, and a joy to be around. I can’t recommend her enough!”

Black Mouth Cur/Mix

I completed an Intake Session and purchased a 5 Class Package with FNK9. I can not speak highly enough about Meaghan’s professionalism, knowledge and commitment to training my dog. After working with Meaghan, I feel like I am so much more knowledgeable of how to improve my dog’s wellbeing, what he needs to be happier and healthier, and what I can do within reason to make that happen. I worked with a trainer before that made me feel bad about how I had worked with my dog and I didn’t feel that way at all with Meaghan. She understands what I can do based on my lifestyle and works to come up with a plan that works for both me and my dog. It is clear that Meaghan understands that we can not give up our lives for our dogs, even though we want the best for them, which other trainers expect us to do. I couldn’t be happier to have met and worked with Meaghan, possibly the most understanding and compassionate dog trainer I’ve ever met!

Goose
Aussie Doodle
9 months
Meaghan at Friendly Neighborhood K9 has been amazing to work with! She started working with Goose in July 2022 during a 1-week board & train when he was 13 weeks old, focusing his training on basic obedience (sit, down, place, leave it, drop it, heel), potty training, and crate training. I purchased a 5-Class Package in December 2022 and we’ve been working on off-leash training - all in a relatively short time frame! She provides clear instructions to me and follows up with videos and PowerPoints to make it easy to implement the training the right way at home. Goose loves going to her and I appreciate all the time and effort she puts into the training, as well as how to care for him generally, including links to products she recommends. I’d recommend Meaghan to anyone looking for straightforward & effective dog training!
